I think you are overestimating the effect of a Dark Forest. Unless you leave all your Multiwinians right in the middle of one, you really shouldn't lose that many. So, there have been quite a few repeat requests for a number of features (no prizes for guessing which), so I figure now is a good time to tell you what we are actually planning to add (though don't assume that anything not on the list won't be added, this is just currently what we have on the list)...
The reason there isn't an option to direclty specify which crates are and aren't present on the level is because if that was the case, everyone would simply remove all of the bad crates from the line up. You might think this is a good thing, but it really isn't; crate drops can easily alter the flow...
