In the same way that humans are decended from primates, sure.
Only Green, Red, Blue and Yellow are really considered part of the story though. The other 4 colours are just there for fun.

As more levels are released, this will be expanded upon a little, but we don't really go into too much detail for a couple of reasons. I think you are overestimating the effect of a Dark Forest. Unless you leave all your Multiwinians right in the middle of one, you really shouldn't lose that many. If its on top of one of your Spawn Points, you should only lose a couple of your troops as long as you order them straight out of the fo...

It looks like too many people have selected Purple. I suggest all of those people move to yellow, because I am changing the next release so that Purple is only available if you are using my registration key.

There shouldn't be any difference in any of the team AI (certainly not anything decided by team colour) so anything you are seeing is coincidental.

The reason there isn't an option to direclty specify which crates are and aren't present on the level is because if that was the case, everyone would simply remove all of the bad crates from the line up. You might think this is a good thing, but it really isn't; crate drops can easily alter the flow...
