I think this might be an interesting feature too. However there is a risk it becomes over-powered. The utility views seems to lag a lot when compared to the rest of the game, and is appears that the sheer amount of animations there could be to blame (animation of water flowing, pulsing animation of power coverage). Perhaps for slower computer, it would be a quick performance fix to stop animation...
