Actually, I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that Tunneling was spotted as early as Alpha 10, just really really rare. I think it was similar to how shotguns were in the game really early, even though they weren't supposed to be, or how you could spawn riot police into your game by manipulating the ...

Thing about metal detectors is that there are a variety of ways to get past them. Firstly, your prisoners can sometimes walk around them, depending on placement. Even if this doesn't happen, many times metal detectors will falsely go off. When a metal detector goes off, it gets "jammed up"...

If your prisoner set off a metal detector, returned to his cell, went to "sleep", and started digging, that would reveal the tunnel when the guard finally caught up.

By default, I believe cells are searched after misconduct.

The more I read the more I love this.

I think it's important, however, to somehow incorporate the fact that many gangs are formed outside prison and extend inwards when members are arrested. Perhaps a certain number of inbound prisoners should already have a gang affiliation?

Actually, Cells are now required to be fully enclosed - surrounded by walls and doors. This no longer works.

I like this idea. It takes, what 10-15 seconds to search someone? If you put checkpoints in front of the canteen, prisoners would never get in, thus making this not viable. You'd only use it on low traffic doorways, like visitation, holding cells, etc.
