I would rather they spend their time making a game than trying to sue people who want to play it.

So sure? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=mscbvd5PMxI#t=20s What % of prisons are like that? What % of prisons have the guards & uniforms & jail bars? I think we also have to take into account that sometimes, people want these prisoners punished . Of course the p...

One thing that could help with this could be some improvements to the prisoners needs. I usually put meal time every 4 or 5 hours (forgot which) into the regime and the prison runs fine. But this means no one sleeps for the recommended 8 hours in one stretch, which would make real people pretty unh...

Alright, new plan. Scrap this alpha and go make a proper graphical Dorf Fort. Dood, if you could make a dwarf fort with an awesome user interface in terms of input, decent graphics (actually, prison-architect-style graphics would be good) with no outrageous bugs (like hospital eating up all my clot...

You people need to play dwarf fortress more. -1 for the sake of my poor ol' i5. +1 for the hilarity that I know will ensue. If this were dwarf fortress: Cats would be adoptable. Workmen would have to go out and trap cats. Wild cats would be killed and used for furs and meat, unless trapped. Trapped...

Might as well go the whole way and allow locking everyone in a solitary cell forever with crumbs kicked under the door occasionally. Brilliant! That would require minimal real-estate, minimal staff, minimal cooking, minimal costs, and would result in the intended punishment... why don't we just do ...

What could also be fun is to be asked to do shady deals, e.g. "we need this prisoner to have an accident", and you can decide whether to follow through or not, with different consequences for each. You'd need some potentially-lethal weapons for that.

How about having prisoners generate FoW around them, and guards/CCTVs clear FoW? So areas where prisoners aren't permitted stay visible, but you need guards in the cell blocks, canteen, shower, etc. The flaw here is if you see fog of war in a non-prisoner-allowed area, you'll know a prisoner was th...

Re: Roll call, doors and upgrading security

For a lone prisoner to escape he needs to sneak his way into the staff areas, hide, disguise, kill existing staff then choose the opportune moment at night to make a break for it possibly waiting for a long time before making his move. +1, that sounds fun. Also gives me an idea for a different game...

I like it. This falls under "AI doesn't cheat" category, which would be great. E.g., if you open your wall on a far corner that nobody ever goes to, the prisoners should not all immediately rush for that hole in the wall, because they wouldn't know it's there. On the flip side one might wa...

Talk group: prisoner spills the beans about an escape plan. You find him shanked and gutted the next day. No one comes to the talk group anymore after that.

[Suggestion] human staff

Expanding on the 'staff break room' idea: the staff is pretty super-human, as it is. They never sleep and are always on the job, 24/7. This is most obvious with the workmen, but guards, too. Various suggestions: - Staff should have 'tiredness' level which makes them less effective. - you have to set...

more consistency

the UI should be a bit more consistent with the 'escape' keys, also. If i'm in a building mode, ESC brings me back to non-building mode. Yet if I have a person selected, hitting ESC brings up the menu. Likewise, when I have a person selected, clicking the mouse unselects him. Yet in building mode, i...
