I've found the fog of war to be particularly annoying when building the prison at the start. It's almost impossible to see when your workers are stuck, and it's even worse when looking for that one piece of equipment that hasn't actually finished yet. Plus it takes a lot of cash and time to get CCTV...

They're vector sprites, not bitmaps, so you won't find anything about prisoner shapes in the files.

There's a bitmap that has the skin shades in there, but it doesn't do anything to do with the shape or detail.

Apologies for going off the radar for a while - been ridiculously busy with work for the past month or so.

Just grabbed release 3, will try to port my old stuff over and post results.

I stand corrected. That's pretty impressive!

Yeah, it's a known issue. Even on higher end gaming machines it's a problem. Right now there's not much optimisation, since it's an early alpha, so it's not a question of having the hardware to run it, it's just a case of there being too much work to do per frame.

Yeah, got them in the common room and canteen, and phones, benches, weightlifting stuff, in the yard. Got loads of benches everywhere, too.

Yup, dropping it down to slow seems to make them move smoothly and (seemingly) more efficiently.

That may well be the case. I tend to run it on the fastest speed.

[Suggestion] Allow prisoners to sleep even with high needs

When my prisoners have a high need for a few things (e.g. family, recreation, exercise) they don't sleep. This causes a vicious circle, where they get pissed off, increase their sleep needs, then go to the yard, reduce one need, but then sleep and the other needs build up. It becomes almost impossib...

With the exception of multiple canteens which aren't working at the moment. Canteens aren't so much of a problem. The distance to my yard is pretty low, but they've got to move from one end of the actual cell area. The problem is that they get up to a high level of exercise and family needs, and ha...

I quite like that design. Not much in the way of entertainment, though. Get 56 prisoners in there and see what happens ;)

[Suggestion] Increase need reduction rates on activities

When using large prisons (100+ prisoners), the travel time between activities for prisoners often takes up to 40 minutes. This makes it very difficult to keep the prisoners happy, because by the time they get to the activity they only have ~15 minutes to actually do it. So I'm having to allocate 2 h...

What programs are you using for this reverse engineering? If I remember correctly, RCT wasn't written in ASM, it was written in C. The compiled binary is ASM though, since all compilers produce assembly eventually. Anyway, my primary tools are Cheat Engine (for memory scanning and pointer finding) ...

I would've thought the obligatory video would be John McClane saying "now I know what a TV dinner feels like."

Is your install of Windows 8 in a virtual machine? I get exactly that problem when I use a VM.

The issue is almost certainly to do with hardware support, though. Probably a lack of proper shader support.
