Ahh I think about this game every once in a while, I ended up going to school for computer science and now I work in software
Live and breathe software but I don't even like playing video games these days, just trying to get out and explore a little haha

Hello! A final message to you guys.
Hello everyone! It's been such a long time since I've been involved at all with the Defcon community. I debated posting this message at all, since I doubt how many of you actually remember me, let alone care about what I have to say. But I'll post this as my ultimatum to make myself feel better, and...

Well I dunno. Probably about 6 years ago or so I decided to learn Just Basic for a few months, and gave it up in favor of Game Maker, because it was nice to have actual power at your finger tips. With Game Maker I learned a crap load about design and programming structure, and used that for 3-4 year...

@Trickster: I like the idea, and I do agree that stopping ships on a dime is kind of a silly tactic. I just figured that since it's already a pretty fundamental part of people's play style, it wouldn't be too big of a deal. I'm also not too sure how changing the very fundamentals of how ships move w...

Mod concept: Dynamic fleet packs
Hey guys. I came up with an idea for a mod that probably has been thought of before, but perhaps not as well fleshed out. To be frank, I'm not even sure if it's possible to do without extensive modification to the Defcon source code. Essentially, there would have to be two changes that would go hand...

Why silos broke Defcon
Over my several years of playing Defcon, I've always marvelled at how deep the game is despite its simplicity. Such a few number of units and structures, and yet such deep strategy involved. However, I've also noticed something that's bugged me throughout my time here. Most players play with a certa...

To be honest I'm not sure why tensions seem to be so high in this forum. Sure I've raged some in Defcon. I've quit a few times here and there when getting stomped really badly and having a bad day. I've never insulted anyone or called them out unless they were truly deserving of such a reaction. If ...
