You do have a key, Steam just handles the entering for you. You might want to try this: Uninstall it, go to your Steam directory (I think that's where Steam places this file) and delete the authkey file. Then reinstall. I got a response from introversion. They said that if I reinstall and enter the key again it should work but I have tried reinstalling and as I downloaded it with steam it has no key.

It doesn't work when I run it in a window and it is only the window that turns black. Another thing I noticed is that if I move the mouse around I occasionally hear the noise that it makes when you hover over links on the main menu

I tried re-downloading the game and that didn't work. The integrity of the game cache is fine as well. If it helps, I also had the problem when I downloaded the demo version without using steam and I have Windows Vista Home Basic.
