I just installed Defcon 1.43.
I now hear the sfx but very faint and only if i zoom to maximum.

No there was no dbghelp.dll in the Defcon-Folder,
my version in \system32 didn't export the MiniDump...-function,
but the XPs does and works (in case it has nothing to do with my sound-problem, but I don't think).
May I need another ogg-codec?

The problem with the dll is solved, but perhaps we can find out, why I don't hear any sfx, only background music. I tried different sound settings. And I just encountered another problem: When I aktivate a Mod and then restart Defcon I get: defcon.exe - error in application The instruction "0x0...

I have the same problem with the german version.
I think I only hear the background sound and enemy nuke starts.
I just tried another sfx-mod without success.

Solved the problem.
Copied XP version of dbghelp.dll into game directory.
