Re: Let's go.........RANDOM!

The freedom to chose modules varies wildly from course to course (and uni to uni) in the UK. Many courses set a core of required modules. Then there will be a number of modules within the department that can be chosen from. Finally there may be some 'free choice' modules that can be taken from absol...

Re: Let's go.........RANDOM!

In my experience, Universities do a poor job of preparing students for this. Right through to the final year many still want to be "taught stuff"; they want to know what they need to know and be told what they need to know so they can parrot it back. Personally, I can think of two likely ...

Re: Let's go.........RANDOM!

If you want people to teach you, there are community colleges in the US for that (I don't know what the European equivalent might be). University students are expected to learn primarily on their own, with some guidance from faculty. xander It can vary from Uni to Uni, but in the UK, by and large, ...

Gunpoint is also out. Which is brilliant (if a bit short) and you should all get it. It is genuinely excellent. Tom Francis missed a trick by not having a good system for sharing levels in place though. It would not have been too difficult to host a database of levels on a website where people can ...

If you have been collecting spiders from my mother's bedroom then you will only have collected common house spiders, Tegenaria domestica . They may vary in shape and colour, but are by far the most common spiders found in homes. They are also docile things, unlikely to fight. If these are the spider...

And, has anyone gotten two copies of uplink? Mac (or Linux) version They appear in your library despite whatever platform you are running on. I have two copies of San Andreas and Vice City for this reason. You cannot install them and cannot hide them unless you select your library to only show inst...

New Steam Library entry: DEFCON Beta Demo

It appeared in my library today.

Probably not the place to ask: But has anyone who doesn't own DEFCON got this?

Some kind of 'free weekend' thing going on for Defcon? Or are IV working on a new version of Defcon and all Defcon owners are beta testers? Or some kind of error in the Steam database?

Yes I think it was.
No, it's more of a sequel.

The plot is entirely different.

(I was referencing the 2000 film in my original post. The 1970 ('71, '72?) is brilliant, but it's quite a different movie.)

A lot stupid to not show up, but also stupid to allow the criminals the option to not show up. And the consequences (from what you described) aren't serious enough. The alternative to bail is to lock everyone up who is going to stand trial. Which means imprisoning a lot of innocent people. Or offer...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfttKjMM8rQ This story has been floating around school for the last few days. Heh. It's worth watching the second video linked from that. The second Judge clearly has a lot of experience with drug users and knew the score. The first judge hardly spoke to her, was aski...

Whilst gun crime and laws are being debated, peace can be found that the other, nasty crimes are being sorted by the unelected Library of Congress. Which has made Unlocking your smartphone a crime punishable by imprisonment.
