I would've thought that all arcing of Missile tracks well below the Equator would arc towards the South and not the North. :? you'd be just like most of the rest of us ;) really, nuke trajectories should be computed against a 3d model and representated on the 2d map with equivalent arc similar to t...

who's to say that's not better? also, instead of making the globe automatically spin, just give the user control of it (WASD and mouse) I did not say it would be worse. I said it would not be Defcon. If someone wants to make a game of thermonuclear war that takes place on a globe, great. In fact, I...

The other problem with a globe is that it would drastically change gameplay. Currently, if you are the USSR, you have to worry about your nukes being intercepted by Europe on their way to North America. On a real globe, this would not be a problem. While there are many people on these boards who wo...

nuke trajectories

ok... forgive me. i know little about mods, and more specifically, about the limits of making mods for defcon. also, what I am about to bring up... has probably been brought up before. is it possible to calculate nuke trajectories against 3d coordinates, draw the nuke trajectories on the 2d map, and...

sure, it'd be good for newbs... most of us know the arcs and it also has a lot to do with where you place silos.

a mod that shows trajectory before launch would be even cooler =)

when you highlight your installations or fleets, you can see what is on them. bombers will show a nuke if they are armed with nukes. if airbases or carriers have nukes available, but not armed on anything, you will see individual nuke missiles in their storage

Check all your carriers and air bases for remaining nukes. Get your bombers to land at these destinations to reload them. I assume what happened is even though you had 4 nukes left in your carriers and/or air bases, that launching the bombers assumes they may not be coming back and therefore removes...

It's very similar to the same strategy I've used, just that i find it applies to any of the four regions that are connected to each other. NA and SA can do this to wipe each other out, too... but it's less effective once you have to travel over the oceans to destroy your enemies. :) Obviously, the r...

No matter how you cut it, it all boils down to who strikes first between USSR and Europe if they are stationed to take each other out... ;) If you get an alliance, all the better... I found it interesting that you positioned your Silos in an (almost) straight line. I haven't tried that. I think the ...

like most strategies, this only works depending how aggressive you are and how stupid either USSR or NA is. Anyone who is smart using NA will set up appropriate anti-sub carrier defense and will place a carrier in the maritimes for just such an instance. If USSR is smart, they'll load up silos all a...
