No, it's not. It's merely a sign that there's a large experience or talent gap between the two players. I'm more than happy to educate anyone who fails to get a kill against me. Humilitation doesn't factor into it.

What about if the server drops the players and the game ends? I had that situation with someone last night.

I could see this working in a Europe/Russia confrontation as well, particularly if your goal is to disrupt any submarine launch your opponent might attempt at the Defcon 1 turn.

I guess my main question is "what do I do with this dummy config file and the shell program?" I've got the idea that you create a config file appropriate to what you want on the server, but how do you apply it to the program and make it do its song and dance? Also, do you just insert each ...

Ah, that explains why my total games shows up at 4 while I can only find three demos listed. Incidentally, is there any chance you could post a FAQ about creating your own server. I'm a complete noob when it comes to that sort of thing, and the dummy config file is a big help, but I'm always afraid ...

Ah. Now it makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. It's a great service, and I'll (hopefully) keep adding to it. With any luck, I'll be able to host a server with the appropriate program.

The whole Upper/lower/middle/shishkabob thing is a bit confusing for me... I can't tell what it means. Would it be possible to just do a 1/2/3/4/5/6 ranking system separated by the number of players in the game? You've done a great job on all this, and it's really impressive. Just wanted to give my ...

I wonder about averaging the selected speeds, myself. For instance, if one person is at 1x, and five others are at 3x, the actual game speed would be roughly equivalent to 2 2/3.

The only reasonable retort. Actually, according to modern linguistic theory, prescriptive grammar is outmoded. What matters is the ability to pass a coherent message, which is the purpose of communication in the first place. The means of that message are irrelevant so long as the message is underst...

(Almost) As Good as it Gets...

It's only a 3-player game, but it's the closest I've come to a super-perfect game. Picked up an interesting fact about cities along the way as well. After a certain point, I managed to knock every city under 0.0m population -- that is, a mouseover of every city showed 0 population. What allowed me t...

Well, I'm glad it was you and not me. I was going pretty good myself, had eliminated Africa, then got connection problems, which I assume was you getting kicked off.

My suggestion: door locks.
