How would you edit away that? Because you're talking about the line going vertially though the map, right? It's where the map circles around, and you'll notice that line in-game as well in the map.

Yes. The game is fine as is. However, many people don't like the pawns can only move forward and attack on the diagonal thing. Its not a matter of whether the mechanic is fine or not, but what people will find as more fun. The mechanic really isn't fine though, its dumb. The game has been out for o...

Disconnecting servers and clients picking up
Everything is run in a simulation of the gamestate on the client, not the server. Even single player spawns a server and a client to use a loopback network model.
I obviously don't know how the client/server code works in Defcon, but with what NeoThermic said, I was thinking...

Re: Diplomacy failure

Well the player you're complaining about might be a bit slow on the uptake, but you seem to have failed bigstyle at in-game diplomacy yourself. Not only did you fail to ally with anyone and get toasted from all sides, you couldn't even convince a moron (your words, not mine) to nuke someone other t...

Re: An observation

I think that you are sorta missing the point. In this game you are supposed to lose the least Actually, Ruges started with saying that his post was about games where you get points for killing, making it quite clear he's talking about the default mode, where the goal isn't to have the least casualt...

It's a shame, but you get people like that everywhere, I'm afraid. You could of course always point out that there is no team scoring, that the game's goal is to score as highly as possible, not for some alliance, but for yourself and no one else. An alliance is merely an extended cease-fire, not a ...

Personally I'd like to see an option to switch arcs on/off. While I can see where the arcs come from (to represent altitude), that's not what they are doing in game (all missiles fly at the same altitude, all the time).

I had incredible difficulty with the captcha here. I didn't know if I was supposed to write the letters as they appeared top to bottom, or left to right. And for some letters I had to guess if they were upper or lower case. I really don't know how these things are generated, but couldn't you make so...

[Bug] Dissapearing units during placement

Try this: Start up a new game, make sure the unit placement bar is up. Click on "Fleets", start creating a new fleet with 1-5 naval units, click on the "Units" button in the main menu bar. Click on the "Units" button again, to bring up the units bar, click on "Flee...

You can see what Defcon thinks it's using, under Options->Sound of all places (or is this just measuring what the sound component is using? That'd be really weird, since memory usage isn't shown under any of the other options screens). Anyway, what is shown under Sound is usually just roughly a tent...

It wouldn't surprise me if eventually you'd get a few general "good moves" per territory on the standard map. You can compare it to the game Diplomacy (an excellent game, I might add), where no country is completely equal. Although in Diplomacy (the game, not the Defcon game mode) differen...
