I just tried to investigate once more and there seems to be no kind of built-in voting system in Mantis, which is a big drawback IMHO if it's used as a public and not a company-internal bugtracker. It helps against "+1" comments and offers the devs a nice overview what bug causes the most ...

The rendering should be a piece of cake as I read it's using OpenGL as a backend, so it should be easy to just use a different view/projection matrix. If you rotate the view, the light sources rotate with it, so with a top down 2D perspective the shadows don't change their shape. For the shadows it'...

The original poster seemed to want the data in the application folder. As I said above, I make no claims about the quality of Microsoft's implementation, only that separating user-land data from shared data is the Right Thing To Do™. It definitely is the right thing to do. I don't care if it's &quo...

Re: Bug Tracking System

I remember Mojang (Minecraft) and DICE (Battlefield 3) used GetSatisfaction.com , which has a nice accessible interface, anyone who can use this forum can use it too. You can upvote topics in different predefined categories like bugs or suggestions. Commentaries inside each topic can be upvoted too ...

How do you explicitly assign them? o.o I'd like to know that too. Yesterday I had 15 guys assigned to their cells correctly, automatically. But there was one guy in the holding cell heavily complaining, because he never slept so far. I noticed he was supposed to go to that one empty cell. To make h...

sure but by doing so you are using an exploit to disable one of the primary game mechanics. Obviously, the del area should be nonremovable. Count on this not working after next patch! But Chris already said that the current state might become a special "Pressure Cooker" game mode, and the...

We really need z-levels btw

How should that work?

What I definitely do NOT want are "level up/down" buttons like in Dwarf Fortress!

Uplink has a very similar gameplay problem compared to Subversion once you know how to hack a bank. To me that's very similar to the "shortcuts" Chris is talking about like shooting guards. Nevertheless Uplink was an awesome experience, although a one-time experience IMHO. P.S.: The presen...

Re: Uplink is now available for iPad

The game is challenging to first-time players - it really wasn't intended for a lot of re-playing in my opinion. It's very much a one-time experience. In all of IV's games, when you think about it, the character you're controlling is actually you , sitting behind the computer. In Uplink, you are re...

Re: Uplink is now available for iPad

First thank you very much for giving us such a deep insight into how Introversion worked/works on the inside. It's very rare that developers speak so freely about stuff like that and I really appreciate that. There have been many arguments at Introversion HQ and over the years we have been able to p...

ARGH... the whole premise of Subversion was so damn sexy to me... I was imagining Uplink developed into a bigger game with more replay value (as in: there are still challenges even after you've learned how to hack a bank). But you failed to disappoint me so far with any of your games, so I'll manage...
