If backstabbing you is going to make me win/make me more secure in my leadership position, I won't really hesitate to do it. Defcon only knows one victorious player at the end, not a team. Allying up and staying allied, even though backstabbing would make you victorious instead of your ally, you're ...

If a bomber/fighter is flying too close to a nuke blast, it'll die too. It's kinda obvious, but it can happen if they happen to fly just over that city/radar/silo on their return trip.

If you split your total ships, both your fleets will most likely get killed off, or severely damaged. This leaves your offensive capabilities greatly damaged, and leaves you very defenseless. If you group your ships, your one fleet can kill another person's half-fleet/complete fleet more easily, lea...

Collateral damage has -nothing- to do with radiation. Radiation is just for show. Collateral damage is: 1) Casualties inflicted while still allied. A 'sneak attack' on a current ally that involves his cities blowing up will -cost- you 2 points for every megadeath. 2) Casualties inflicted on yourself...

Europe and Russia teaming up means that in end-game, in order to win, they'll have to fight each other. Try to get Europe to realize that Russia's better at doing the backstabbing because it's better protected by Europe, while Europe is open to everyone and likely already took some hits. Not to ment...

Defcon totally plagiarized the entire notion of a cold war resulting in global nuclear war. I mean, there's been movies about it, and it's totally been thought of before! Bad! Bad!

People stick to alliances too much, it's killing me! In a diplomacy game yesterday, I was NA, while Europe, Asia and Russia ended up allied at one point. Russia was winning, considering it had Europe and Asia as missile defense (and I had my west coast bombed severely by asia). Anyway, Russia was at...

And that makes sense. You don't want your stealthy subs to bypass an entire fleet undetected, only to end up sinking a battleship that'll tip off the enemy to their presence.

Was playing with 2 friends over a LAN. Me being Asia, friend 1 Europe and 2 South America. I allied with South America, got him to attack Europe with me (he did some minor damage to western Europe, while I nuked East Europe's radars). Then when Europe started to attack South america, I quit alliance...

Europe is easy to take out with a coordinated sub/carrier strike, just take out the anti air silos first for easy pickings! There's no way even Europe can survive a good 60 nukes (all subs) with fighter cover to draw some attention away.

That's what I think causes the 'collaterral damage' point loss. Last night I was trying to bomb Mexico, but the nuke got intercepted just in time. It still caused 0.9 million casualties, though!

It's possible to reduce a city to 0 population (I did it to Mexico during the victory timer and found out I forgot about some airfield nukes). However, when a city drops below 2 million population it's not really worth nuking, unless you don't have anything else to kill. If you finished off someone'...

Your missiles will hit the same air defense silos, though, so it's both a blessing and a curse. For instance, Africa's protected by European anti-air because all continents' missiles go into european range (maybe not south american silos if placed way south). However, unless you leave your north ope...

First day impressions on tactics:

- Don't spread out your silos too far. You'll want them to be able to cover each other, to prevent mass-nuking from killing off yours silos one by one. - Silo nukes alone can't overcome a player's defences. I've launched 3-4 silos at europe, and only nuked Manchester and Paris (though nuking Paris m...
