Re: Dumb Idea: Nuke Transfer.

So, have you ever launched all your bombers, and have a bunch of nukes lieing around in your airbases collecting dust? How About some way to move the nukes from your airbase to your Silos? How? Shipping them by land? That would take days, realtime. You couldn't do it ingame. It's the same reason th...

just out of curiosity do any of you know how the DEFCON system worked during the cold war? You don't start a countdown to certain states of DEFCON you change it based on the status of the world. Hence "BRING us to DEFCON 1" I think you should be able to change your DEFCON level like you c...

You can fiddle with the data files to change the unit caps.

Won't work online, though.

I'd like to give an example from Diplomacy (the board game). This particular example has been around for a very very long time, and thus demonstrates how imbalances in the game and so-called "game winning" strategies actually work in top-level play. There is an alliance in Diplomacy called...

What might be fun to play with would be a DEFCON map where you click two points and it shows you the arc (the way DEFCON computes it) between them.

Yes, there is. Seriously, run a search before posting. You can take her out with the NoCry mod, which is as simple to install as extracting to a directory.

Offtopic, but can you please break up, alt text, tinyurl or otherwise shrink long links? Some people only have small monitors and scrolling sideways to read every line is a pain.

I agree. Maybe off the coast of Portugal/North-West Africa.

Otherwise, very nice work.

I love the Zion mode, but obviously the problem is that everyone tends to end up at "nil point". Perhaps have scoring set to 1 point per survivor + 1 point per kill?

Very good points you have made there. The thing is, why were strategic reconnaisance aircraft like the SR-71 Blackbird created in reality, when there was still the option to use tactical fighters that were reconnaisance variants? This is not a complaint to your comments, merely an observation as to...

Two silos really isn't sufficient to defend anything. Maybe I've been playing against less experienced players or something, but both of my recent wins with Africa have used this technique. I find two silos, properly positioned, will be fine for defending against incoming nukes. Couple that with an...

I enjoy conducting a stab whilst still talking to the person who I am stabbing. Check out this article, it's got some interesting info about communication in alliances:

Personally, I defend it with two silos. They're not "unable to do anything else" by any stretch - in fact, they're great for shooting down missiles coming from the north (and as Africa, most nukes targeted on you will be coming from that direction). One thing that you have to bear in mind ...
