Just a quick bit of nitpickery: not all licenses are transferrable. Example: instrument and sample libraries often come with non-transferable licenses to keep a secondhand market at bay. Buyer is the only legal licensee in that case.

He does raise an interesting point, however. The concept of "games as teachers", or 'Serious Gaming' as it is coming to be known, is drawing a lot of attention, and DEFCON might have a subtle thing to add to that. Now that I think about it., you notice that DEFCON barely even legitimizes t...

Well, if "music A level" refers to school, then I suspect it duly falls under "Fair Use", but the paramters of fair use are oft misunderstood, so I might be wrong, but I dont think so.

I was pondering about the UFOs and such, and I asked myself what locations might be most closely related to UFO's. So, I played around in the bermuda triangle...fighters disappeared, but that was because I had nuked the area to oblivion and they perished in the radiation:P Then I had the bright idea...

Haha, at least you only have to do it once. But I will agree. I was so amazed at this forums captcha that I screenshotted it:

I can see how the main point is supposed to be frantic gameplay once DEFCON 1 is reached, so we wouldnt just want 64 missiles pre-aimed, and just mash the LAUNCH button at DEFCON 1.... Middle-ground proposal between gameplay and reality: Perhaps each playe could store up to three "Targets"...

I really dont get the whole "utensils and plates" thing for food, either. Noone can do anything with a spoon that I can't do with my fingers. And then you have to wash them?! I really wish people would stop complaining about having to do the dishes when they chose to not dive face-first in...

I think quite the opposite. My interest was piqued after discovering Darwinia, but the 17 dollar sale was a "price is right" moment. The phrase "how can you go wrong for 17 dollars?" was how I sold it to other people. I think this game has the potential to be semi-viral. People a...

I'll have to go over the music with a fine toothed comb to be sure, but by and large the choral sounds in the music strike me as being sample/synth based. THere are some wonderful sample library choirs out there nowadays.

wrong, wrong, wrong. Its because IV did their homework. Any decent RISK player will tell you that if Australia was playable, the game would be hopelessly unbalanced in their favor. Every seen someone hole up in Australia for 8 hours , fending off the entire combined armies of the world superpowers? ...

I'll throw my hat in here to avoid thread clutter:

Love it! -especially- the music and sound design!
I am not a fan of ambient soundtracks, but this is beautifully haunting!

Superb.
