Steam seems to insist on being run with the -beta uplink0911 option every time.
If I don't use that option, it rolls back to version 1.46.

This is somewhat annoying...

The error is probably in the IP address, since that's the most complex number there. Of course, I've put in the wrong account number a fair few times myself.

Mods DO work for the steam release, it's just that none have been written yet. The problem is that FBIMod was written for an earlier version. (The steam version is also slightly different from the non-steam version AFAICT, but that's less important than the version differences.) It's unfortunate, bu...

It would have been nice if they included a 'scripting engine' upgrade.
Then you could upload a 1gq batch file to a server, run it, and disconnect while the server destroys itself.

It can be a tad hard to see the difference between the green mission servers and the yellow user-selected servers. Could you make the user-selected servers a more distinct color, such as brown, red or etc?

Also, could you have it save link marking status?

I got into the ARC server before revalation was deleted, and found a log saying that it will have had been being deleted a few days from then, and no file.

Strange, I was kinda hoping that I'd be able to save the life of the #1 hacker. ^^

A java clone is still currently under development here: http://forums.introversion.co.uk/uplink/viewtopic.php?t=35578 I'm sure that those developers would rather have people join them rather than trying to compete. Heck, more project members makes a project more likely to succeed in most cases anyw...

I think IV has basically established that it's OK to use their code as long as it doesn't compete with them, and since they've established that they don't intend to create a multiplayer version that would seem to suggest that such a mod would be legit. The only real problem with licensing and copyri...

Generally speaking, words like "Hacking" and "Simulator" tend to draw the wrong kind of attention. A proper name, even just a development one to be changed later, is a vastly better choice than a descriptive one. Call it something like "Spike'd: Hollywood Kraken" at least

The most cross-platform compatable would be Java, and since Java and C have somewhat similar syntax you would be able to harvest and convert large portions of the Uplink engine with perhaps a bit more ease than starting from scratch (I haven't bought a DevCD yet, so I can't take a look at their codi...

I know what you are talking about Krid and I must say, people that actually think that including the REAL client of a palyer in the game world would make gameplay fun is just retarded. Agreed. Hacking into other peoples' actual clients would be a meaningless distinction anyway, since from the persp...
