wow, what hysterics. A duff patch, and the forum is in the right old moody mess. Its a good sign that people are so crazed over this, it shows there is still good passion for the game. Patience, the fix will surely happen. In the meantime, there are plenty of other fine games out there. Santa - one ...

Just installed the 1.4 patch.

Game is now unplayable. Total mess. A shame. Oh well, there are plenty of other working games out there.

I'd say its probably too old a graphics card?

What card do you have ?
--

You may not know, but slow graphics card = BAD LAG !

I know, I had it really bad until I upgraded my card. I didnt get anything fancy, just a 6200, which is more than sufficient.

You're annoyingly good Cali'.

You tend to get all the main big hits early on, regardless of what anyone else does.

Its not obsolete. ---- Personally, I hate Diplomacy mode. I think it causes too much trouble between players. I love defcon, its a truly awesome game concept, but Diplomacy games often end up as a bitch fest with players whining about being betrayed. This style of play does nothing for creating a ha...

okie. thanks. I'll note that down. -- I still think an official 'map editor' should be released. Hey, if this zanzer one is good enough, why not just have IV deem it worthy of officially being one map editor that works. What drives me crazy are complicated mods that are beyond 'reasonable tech-head'...

No, I've not tried it, but then, I don't do mods.

I make maps. I'm good at concepts, but I simply can't be be doing coding stuff.

As it is, I can't play the game anyway, since am awaiting to build new computer that can run the game.

I've been begging for a map editor since day -30 (yeah, I'm old school defcon ;) ) . However, the mod thing looks like it might be part of a map editor anyway? The two are very much linked, right ? For defcon to survive into the long term, we need a map editor. I've a fair few ideas already, but I a...

I think it all depends on what sort of player you are. Do you like to get an early lead, and then really work hard to keep it... or... Sit back, watch the others fight it out...analyse the situation, and then carefully plan your decisive strike on your primary enemy. --- Both have their advantages. ...

Aye. Best game I ever had so far was leaving a 6 player diplomacy at the start. Then getting whacked by all 5 of them. I just sat back in full defensive mode, and finally saw them start back stabbing.

Game ended in a tie at 56 points.

I accidently launched a nuke from one of my ships (or was it a sub), into my own fleet.

I tried to disarm it...but was a few seconds too late.
