I have the PC game, can I get a discount for the Mac?

Having bought Defcon a long time ago when it was released, I'd like to play some more, only my computer now is a Mac. I could run it on Parallel, but I was wondering whether there is a discount for people who want to buy the other version.

Lately I have been playing World in Conflict almost exclusively, but I don't see why we shouldn't be able to meet for a nice match of Defcon. Count me in :)

Glad all of this helped!
Looking forward to gaming with you... I don't play much these days, but when I do I enjoy competent opponents.
Bye!

yes, firing a few nukes (maybe a single sub?) to cover the bomber attack is a good idea, as the sam sites will prioritize the nukes helping your bombers to survive
good idea

sounds like a good plan, if you can win naval superiority
but yes, the beam is usually best done against neighbours

Yes, well, it has its limits, e.g. you can't do the beam when the range is very long, but still it's a nice tactic. It's somewhat difficult to do in Speed Defcon though :)

Yeah, exactly. Since it was mentioned on the forums, I have seen several people do it with good success, and I have also heard of it referenced as "the beam attack" so I guess the name stuck :)

Also, choose targets so that the leaders of the wave launch first. This draws AA fire from the silos and means a higher % of surviving bombers. Be wary of enemy naval groups even if you have superiority in the ocean (I usually place small 2BB/1CV teams as SAM traps close to my coastline when I can)....

Perfect loss

I played a very nice game a couple of days ago, unofrtunately I don't remember the other players' names, but I'll check a ss when I have time. Anyway, the game was funny for me, because I had no deaths, but still lost. Here's how it went. 6 players, me as NA. Immediately ally with SA, Asia & Afr...

Sounds good. Really, the only problem I see with the BA and various variants is enemy fighter coverage. You do have to launch outside his radar coverage, otherwise, surprise is lost and severe losses are assured. A couple of bombers dedicated to taking out coastal radars with the first wave is a goo...

xander: the Beam attack is, essentially, launching the bombers in a 90° route to the target, then turning them around together to achieve parallel routes and (close-to) simultaneous attacks; I'll try and do a screenshot to show what I mean, but I have seen this tactic employed several times in onlin...

If I launch over water, I usually do so over a friendly fleet, OR select a not-direct route. For example, as SA, try sending your bombers as close to the south pole as you can, in a horizontal route, and then turn them north.

Indeed. I am not advocating defending with the Thach Wave, as your post implies, but just saying that if you attack by launching bombers at a 90° degree with the target, you obtain parallel routes and simultaneous launches on the target.
BTW, I believe fighters can target 360° around them.

ERTO: this Blitz is the same as my "Beam Attack" that was discussed a long time ago. See here:

Nothing new. But still very effective. :)
