That's great! I just hope this uproar over SDI doesn't lead to a news video featuring snippets from World in Conflict next!

Thanks! When I have the time, I like to write AARs for DEFCON because it is such a great looking game; people who have never heard of it become instantly fascinated. :)

So...is DEFCON popular in heaven?

I hope to have another DEFCON AAR up soon.

African Wildcard: Me vs the AI

I wrote up a review of a fun little match I had against the AI yesterday. You can read it on my blog: http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/blogs/viewblog.php?userid=2908&entry=294 That was a fun game. I just wished I set the game for variable units because all those state-side airbases went to waste....

Hey, I enjoyed that! Very well done. You accomplished a nice quick pace to the video with your expert editing.

There is a game that is in the very early stages of development that promises to be more realistic. It has a working title of 'Cold War' (I believe) and will explore various real-world situations (I believe historical and speculative) where nukes could have been used. Those are the only details I ha...

It was kinda fun to write the article since I played many of those games as a kid. It was interesting to learn who created them, etc. I limited the article to only those games where you actually "have your finger on the button," but if I would have included games that indirectly involved n...

Got Nukes?

Hey all, I help out with a gaming website, Gamesquad.com, and I wrote a little retrospective piece on the history of nuclear war as a game. My article is by no means complete, but it does mention most of the greats (Nuclear War, Missile Command, Theatre Europe, DEFCON, of course :) ). So if you want...

Mongolian Defcon

I found this interesting news blurb: http://www.mongolia-web.com:80/content/view/1226/2/ Mongolia is sitting in the middle of a nuclear-armed chess game being played out between China and Russia. To Mongolia’s south, the Chinese have recently upgraded launch pads for intercontinental ballistic missi...

I really want to see recorded games now that we have defcon schools and tournaments going. Definite agreement, doubly-so if it also comes with the ability to save a game in progress. As a real time DEFCON player, my biggest peeve is that I can't save a game in progress. This forces me to only start...

I would add Larry Leadhead:

It's a comic for hardcore (miniatures) wargamers. :)

Hmm...one upon a time it was a nuclear explosion. Oh well, time to delete it.

It depends on the nature of the Iranian response: If they strike at US and Israeli interests via terrorism, well, that's not anything really new is it? Tehran is already doing its best to start a civil war in Iraq and has triggered a war between Lebanon and Israel just last year. So, if this is thei...

I would vote for Other because I would make a turn-based game. I am very old-fashioned in that regard. I think turn-based games, be they I Go - U Go or We-Go, allow the deepest gameplay. RTS games are fun, and clearly the dominating format for strategy games, but they just don't allow you enough tim...

Some good suggestions there. However, I think most of them are beyond the scope of this game without a major software overhaul (i.e., DEFCON 2). DEFCON is not meant to be a ultra-realistic look at nuclear warfare. DEFCON is really little more than the nuclear variant of Chess. Abstractions are the r...
