The analogy is meant to be broken. I'm saying that PC's shouldn't really be compared to consoles in a holistic manner.

Looks like I went and pulled a Brunelleschi on you guys.

Calling PCs gaming machines is like calling jets race cars just because they both have wheels.

This is kinda dumb. Why didn't IV ever clarify something they put in the game and affects the score (albeit minimally)?

What'd you have is have ONE capital for each region. For Europe, you'd randomize from either all the capitals or all the real-life capitals that are represented in the games. Or you can just have Brussels be the capital. For Asia, you'd randomize as well. It would be idiotic to have more than one ca...

The point about these special cities is that they're also white elephants- they suck up precious defenses.

Two and a half ideas for more cities

Adding more cities can be done by patch, can't it? And it could always be a feature that's meant to be distinct from "classic" Defcon. 1. More cities. Just more cities for all regions. It has to be balanced, but that shouldn't be too hard to do, should it? 2. Special cities. Without making...

Isn't that fun, though? Makes things interesting. I propose that from now on, all discussions about adding Oceania come paired with talk about an 8th region to compensate. Is a Middle East-Central Asia-South Asia alliance the only possibility for that? The regions only have some semblance of being b...

Spin-off ideas

These aren't even close to be possible additions, or even mods, but what would a Defcon-styled game be like for: FIGHTER COMBAT GUERRILLA ENGAGEMENT DESERT WARFARE AIR-TO-GROUND ACTIONS THEATREWIDE TACTICAL WARFARE THEATREWIDE BIOTOXIC AND CHEMICAL WARFARE I think only the last one is remotely simil...

Ideas for Patch features

Sure, IV doesn't do sequels or expansion packs. But are there any significant features you can think of that should/could be added? I'd just like more cities, as long as it doesn't mess with the balance. Maybe a "bigger world" mode in which each region gets more cities added? Additionally,...

I like how minimalist Defcon looks. If it was a space-based game in 3D, it'd be exactly how the simulations in Ender's Game would look. Does anyone think that there is a storyline to it? At least there should be a reasonable way to explain the six different alliances. Unless you can pick the ...
