LAN games sharing CD keys

I find it rather interesting how you can't play a game of Defcon over LAN on account of the fact that it will give a duplicate CD key error when the second system tries to join.

If I have to buy a CD key PER SYSTEM I want to use it on...

Showing interest, if only so that mods with greater ambition can be made. :-)

And when's the stat tracking system coming in? :D

Yeah, my friend played a game of this with you the other day. It's an absolutely amazing mod. My only complaint with this mod (other then all the small technicalities) is the fact that there aren't many others who play it. :(

This mod goes great with Speed Defcon by the way. Loads of fun.

Sorry, no dice. One of two things seems to be happening. 1) I'll get in-game, only to see a blindingly white screen. It's near impossible to see anything. Or, what happens more often-- 2) Trying to start a game will result in a fatal error closing the game. Then a runtime error pops up after the gam...

I'm too lazy to quote. :P Yeah, in normal Defcon, all the sounds being slowed down once nuclear armageddon began was a very neat effect. For a lot of conversion mods, this comes around to bite us in the butt. Say hello to the Christmas Mod. Once gifts started landing in cities, the Christmas music w...

I encountered the exact same error. I agree with the aforementioned. Uninstall Defcon from whatever directory you're using now, and install it to a different one (for example what I used was C:/Program Files/Defcon1). This cleared up any problems I had. Also note that any patches will automatically ...

I've had bad experiences with deleting game directories before. The game would then compeltely corrupt and never work on the same computer henceforth.

But if it happens again I'll try deleting the history.txt file. Thanks for the help.

Defcon 1.1 Refusing to Startup

Well, I was playing the game fine before. After changing absolutely nothing, the game refuses to startup. I get the infamous "Sorry, defcon.exe has encountered a problem and must now close," message. Funny thing is, Defcon 1.0 won't do this but Defcon 1.1 will. WTF? Any help appreciated. E...

The only 2 games I've played so far weren't diplomacy so there wasn't much backstabbing to be done, although I did convince someone on my alliance's main opposition to join us. I ended up coming in second place. That's how it generally works with non-Diplomacy games especially if you're russia allie...

The point raised about "Power gamers" coming to DEFCON is indeed a very valid argument. That being said, I still think a ranking system would be nice, somewhat like the way it's implemented in America's Army. It has a very detailed stats tracking system. However, it's impossible to get tho...

The ATi cards dying and Vista are not related, so I'm not sure why you posted it. Oh, sorry, I think I misinterpreted what was being said. I just don't get why they say "you need an outdated CPU but you need a state of the art optical disc drive & gpu, but we'll happily support 1994 SCSI d...

Vespucci, I was watching that Diplomacy game you were playing the other day in which I think you won. Good game...

At any rate, I don't think the game will even let you deploy an SRBM from a bomber before Defcon 1.

Right. Sorry for getting the thread sidetracked.

At any rate is IV aware of this problem and/or including a fix for it in the next patch?
