Try sorting the sound folder by file size. The music is a bit bigger than the sound bytes.

You can open it with WinRAR and, most likely, any program that opens .zip or .rar files. Just rename it to "Sounds.rar" and extract it (but don't forget to change it back or you could break your game).

I agree, Machinae Supremacy songs go well with Darwinia. The Jets'n'Guns soundtrack (also on the MS site) has some good ones... "Death From Above" = Perfect for AirStrikes

I had that problem when I tried to start Darwinia on a computer at my school. It was most likely running DirectX 8 though, so that would be the problem.
