I hope they're just referencing The IT Crowd. D:

Mine's in tolerable shape. A few dents, but it's not terrible. I'm somewhat surprised it came over the Atlantic in fairly good condition.

Anyone who's going to PAX07 and would like to help out with promoting DEFCON should see me while there (I'll be in the BYOC room somewhere, most of the time, I suspect). Vic sent me a bunch of DEFCON postcards a while back, and I figure PAX07 would be a great place to give a bunch of them away. :) -...

Interesting. I'll take a second look at the code. It certainly looks like, in the main render function, that it would be drawing the units twice, but (1) that made no practical sense, and (2) when I disabled one of the unit render calls, it only showed half the units. Not sure why it'd render anythi...

It doesn't actually render anything twice, the map is just divided into two halves, split at the international date line. Units are rendered half on one, half on the other. And actually, in beta 2, I corrected it slightly so that it renders the map background for both halves, and -then- renders unit...

I had a Motorola 68030 machine (an Atari TT030/8), and something significantly older as well. Both were actually Atari machines, from back when they made computers.

My bad. Upon initial glance at the code, it appeared that it just used a bitmap for the low-detail... Apparently that function is never called.

How does the number of glVertex2f calls change if you use the low-detail world option?

The GeForce 2 isn't very powerful. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the GPU, not the CPU, that is taking the most load.

I just noticed this post. Sorry guys. The reason for "zoom out lag" is because you have more objects on screen that need to be rendered. This takes lots more time than it would to render only a select few objects when zoomed in. This also causes high latency because Defcon is not respondin...

Re: Possible to authenticate without using UDP?

I would verify if UDP is really blocked, since it's used for numerous protocols....(DNS, DHCP, Kerberos etc...), it's not really a common practice to block afaik either... Mind that DHCP/Kerberos may not be blocked inside the LAN, but on the border between LAN and WAN. They may also have internal D...
