@jelco: I apologize for attempting to save time by making sure people understood that I knew of codecs and what they did, and attempting to provide whatever information that might be needed to track the issue down, and in the future will try to keep in mind that you prefer to have your time wasted b...

@jelco: The CCCP is a collection of codecs 'n filters that enable it to translate various esoteric video and audio (and subtitle) formats, usually* contained within MKV container files (which can contain any number of video, audio, and subtitle streams). Hardware isn't even my forte, it's more softw...

I can't play the videos. :|

Ok. The videos. About Subversion. In the blo gs . I can't play them. I have the Xvid codec installed (v1.2.1, I believe), but I just get black, or sometimes very corrupted visual stillness. Worse, my video player (MPC) seems to play -past- the end of the time on the file. No audio either, but I thin...

Yes, this is definitely a bug. I noticed it too, earlier, and it makes that spawn point harder to hold, and... this might be a sign of me being crazy, but without all the points being controlled on the spawn point, doesn't it spawn fewer MWGs?

Unless I'm missing something, anthill removal requires specific types of powerups. This could be used to really nerf the anthills (at the cost of lives, of course).

Just to double check -again-, I did the following: Downloaded these drivers. Uninstalled my current sound drivers. Rebooted. Installed the previously downloaded drivers. Rebooted. I ended up with the exact same driver version and date as what I started with. Oddly enough, I managed to play a game of...

The October drivers I downloaded and installed prior to running DxDiag are what I have installed and are what are listed in DxDiag. Also, the drivers you linked to were not for my card. My card is X-Fi. That was the Audigy 2. (Yes, my drivers are up to date for the X-Fi. As I said in my original pos...

All my drivers ARE up to date. I've said that already. The driver windows claims had the issue (afd.sys) is a core windows file. Windows is up to date as well. The reason windows BSODed is because the lack of a proper shutdown in Defcon ties up some driver (my guess is it's network related) until an...

And just to clarify, I can spectate, watch AI players, or do anything else -but- actually play. I've tried playing a total of four times now, each time it locks up before I get to DEFCON 1.

Defcon 1.42 Crash (and BSOD, and unplayable)

I've tried playing Defcon twice now since the 1.42 patch (haven't played in a long, long time before that though). Each game was me vs. one AI player. Both times, Defcon has locked up. Each time required me to end the task. Rolling Demos do not cause this issue. The first time I pretty quickly opene...

Carriers Move With Fighters

If I launch fighters from a carrier, it seems the carrier decides that it's a good idea to move towards where the fighter is going. How do I stop this?

The arc thing is definitely a problem. And I'm not sure the southern arc is the proper solution. What do you do when firing at a northern target from the southern hemisphere, or the other way around? Is that a northern, or southern arc? What it should be is an altitude thing. In the middle of flight...

Air exploration?

Ok. Anyone have any tips for getting fighters into enemy territory? I'm having a hard time actually geting an idea of what the other side has for defensive layouts.

The problem here seems to be that the OP is waiting till the end of DEFCON 4 to slow down. By that point, everyone ELSE has already placed their units and is ready to go. In the future, slow down at the start of the game, in DEFCON 5, when nothing can happen EXCEPT placement, then start moving it fa...

If spectating, it's not terribly annoying, and I can understand why it might have to load up the logs (and I understood that was what was happening). My only question is why it doesn't show the replay of the game by default? All it shows on mine is a black screen unless I close the window with the p...
