Hi. I'm trying to install uplink on my linux machine (redhat 8) in /usr/local/games/uplink/. I have the patch and the rh8 fix installed, but for the life of me I can't figure out what to do to make this thing runnable from anywhere. It only runs if I'm in the same directory as the uplink-rh8 file. C...

the book is free phrack is the perspective from one of the sides (hackers) NOT impartial, I'm afraid. Hell, it's editor was one of the arrested people you don't NEED to know anything to live. Just work at a gas station and eat at McDs. I posted it here because I thought it would be *interesting*. As...

Absolutely nothing. It is a crime, as in illegal, so should not be done. But before the events described in this book, it was not a crime. These kids did not start out breaking *laws*, only company policies. Plus the book is impartial, not biased. It is written by a journalist, after interviews cond...

It describes LoD, the early BBS scene, the FBI crackdowns, and spends equal time describing all protagonists ...

work in a slaughterhouse for a few months, then come talk to me again. My father owned one here, I *still* get disgusted with some things I remember from it. And I eat meat, mind you (I'm not a vegetarian purely out of lazyness), but I have to do some serious mental engineering to not feel sick from...

OK, deadalus. I'm gonna help you a bit further. The thing on the back of the cd case is a phrase. an English phrase. The rest of the replies just ignore. They are basically us old forum geezers having a bit of in-joke fun. It was not really fair to do it at your expense, but what people said is true...
