I had this, but only when lots of Darwinians were trying to get into one place. It still happened after sending all but one away. The mine was still producting polygons, and it was the second mine along. Screenshot attached:

By mistake, I demoted an officer. I then re-promoted the Darwinian. There was no crash, and the game proceeded on. After clicking to move the Darwinians with the officer, however, the game froze. Bring up the Task Manager and move your mouse to the top of the screen. This will give you a list of valid gestures.

It seems to take a while to finish though. It just ends on the same view with nothing happening whatsoever.
