Well I went and downloaded Omega ( I didn't even know there were third party drivers) , and even though they said all ATI is supported, it wasn't. I got the same message .

Well getting a file server is easy, you just wait until you get a "Copy large and secure data base" mission and hijack the file server . The modem supposedly makes the copy/delete things go faster but I never noticed anything, so wouldn't even bother buying that stuff.
