Re: 3 years...

Wow. 3 years I've been here. This place has seen some highs and some lows. A few good people came and went. A few annoyances came and went. A lot of annoyances stayed. This has gone downhill so much since the good ol' days. And don't give me any of the "It's getting better now" crap. I noticed that...

I think I might just start coding challenges and have people code a "generic" exploit for it. _maybe_ provide shells for those who want to test out the challenge. (gcc, gdb, and a stripped version of the binary would be provided)...

I did successfuly run one round of wargames for Retoros. I did a gentoo chroot wargame. I had to introduce some hand-crafted vulns, however nobody had even come close to rooting the box...

maybe I'll reopen the wargames again soon. If I do, I'll post it here...

I remember my old "Uplink Sucks" thread...

hahaha, I couldn't realize it was only a game.

I'll give $20 virtual dollars to the first person who finds that post (me being too lazy to look for myself).

what other topics were started back then that took quite a response from the members?

sys_call_table has been dynamically found (not via System.map, but directly with kernel memory) about 30 minutes ago

this exploit is sortof old... the point of the code was that sys_call_table is still fully controllable in 2.6 (it's not exported).

if you read the TODO, then that will tell you what's going to be going on... that code is just a start of what is to come :)
