Hey dont lump us all together. The majority of America is not behind Bush. Last time i checked his approval rating was somewhere in the 20% area. The PROPER generalization to use is "You must be from the south/midwest" Many many Americans want the war to end, but Bush and his associated n...

Mmmm.... Jerky is the shizzle!!! It's available in England but is massively expensive. For those lucky non-UK peeps about to recieve peperami, it's like salami, but a bit harder, smaller, and with much less flavour. Have fun with that. Also, since when did pot noodle have nutritional value?! To addr...

Obviously. If I were to launch a massive ICBM attack I'd still leave the silo closest to the supposed enemy (supposed being the key word here) in AA mode, while launching from my other silos in a staggered pattern, farthest firing first. To obtain something like this: http://www.everybody-dies.com/...

did you just quote yourself? o.O Self quotation - what a genius idea! "[rambling speach] ... and as a little known academic once said: '<insert anything you ever made up>', which proves my point." :) You've genuinely never thought of using yourself as an information source?! I suppose you...

You can't have a world war if you don't have the tech for it. xander I am being a little pedantic, but I disagree with this. In principal you could. I've just thought of something else (not necessarily supporting my arg, just an interesting tit-bit). Before world war 1 (quite a bit before) people w...

And that is why QM is not the correct theorie. No one said it was, maybe when it's finished it will be better? It does, however, concern itself with behaviour that has been observed . QT does not explain everything, but some parts of it are accepted theory, and, beleive it or not, that means that p...

"the three dimensions known to mankind" hold on a minute... There's X, Y, Z and time. That's 4 damnit. and the probability dimension. that's 5. (got it from another thread) There is no such thing as a fifth dimension. :x Meh, I wouldn't really call probability a dimension. There's no such...

Xander: I agree completely that the world wars were a completely different type of war and that the technology allowed the fighting to be so intense. However, neither of these aspects made the war a world war: the technology allowed the fighting to be so intense, but it did not make it a world war....

Sorry Xander, don't get me wrong, I was mostly agreeing with you. The point I was trying to make was that talking about which technology was used and if it was a new type of war simply aren't relevant to whether a war is a world war or not. The only thing that matters (IMO) is i) >1 countries involv...

In the above, I was comparing the two World Wars with wars since then. If we wish to compare it to previous wars, there are some rather large, striking differences. The first and most obvious is the level of technology... So what happens if there is a nuclear strike of a country by itself (not to p...
