I agree, Scheme doesn't supply OO constructs, but it also happens to be primarily an algorithmic, functionally recursive language, not an object-oriented, data structure-driven one. Though I said it was elegant, and I love the language, it's still not something I would use for event/object/entity sc...

Wow, I haven't posted here in a while. Regardless, I think that either language would probably be good, though I, personally, much prefer Python. I find it to be one of the most elegant languages I've used - definitely more so than C/C#/C++, Java, or Perl (not to mention Ruby... Oh, god, what an ugl...

This is the kind of thing that should be taught in schools, or at least Computer Science classes: How to overcome obstacles creatively. When all else fails, ask the hackers. As for ways to circumvent Windows' restrictions, it'd be nice if we could have some kind of list of accepted programs, and, i...

Seconded on the replays, although they have already been suggested. I, for one, believe that all games should have a timedemo() function. As for video recording, that might make Defcon's code a bit too bulky; it'd be better, I think, to simply have a ShowHUD (or DemoShowHUD) cvar somewhere, and to r...

Eighthed. I think it'd be nice to have preset symbols, like Bckster suggested, but in addition to the whiteboard feature as opposed to instead of it. They would have to be very simple/elegant, though, like the rest of Defcon, to both fit with the theme of the game and to not clutter; Occam's razor i...

Quietly sneak some subs on the shores of your allies, then nuke the shit out of them at the last moment. Makes you feel less bad about leaving their alliance. Seconded. If they're stupid enough to think that alliances are supposed to last, they deserve to be nuked into oblivion. Oh, and Diplomacy (...

Yeah, this was already suggested before release, although to my knowledge, no one has heard anything from Chris (or anyone at IV) about it, which is kind of a shame. I agree with vogelap on the globe and Darwinia intro. Both of those are probably very simple pieces of code, and if IV ever releases a...

Damn you and your beta version, NeoThermic! Do you have any tornado screenies? Unfortunately, it has been stated in another thread that UFOs were disabled in the retail release, although I have yet to hear about tornadoes. As for the discovery that in IV's games, .dat=.rar, congrats. Although it see...
