Thanks, Rabid. At least now I know what I'm supposed to do. I'll try to notify the people I'm playing with when syncerror strikes again, during that last minute before we're thrown off the malfunctioning server.

Was that aimed at me? If yes, you're pretty fast on the draw. How should I know that there's a syncerror log, or that I could upload it anywhere? The real problem is that when people lose connection to the out-of-sync game, there is no way to coordinate sending a log without communication. So I'd re...

Synchronization errors breaking up games

As much fun as I'm having with this great game, I'm having a terrible time in games with more than two players. Most of the time, after about ten minutes a synchronization error emerges. After one minute of waiting, the host gives up and all joined players lose connection to the server. This happene...

MOST OF US WANT TO PLAY NOT SPECTATE. The spots need to be Reserved once you click on the server That makes no sense, Tookie. Those players that "take your spot from you" have actually clicked on the server before you. Problem is, the server didn't tell you because it shows you old data. ...

No, I've had about as much trouble joining Steam games as non-Steam ones. Either you will find after some more trying that really there is no difference between joining those, or you have a completely different problem than mine.

Thanks Chris. It's pretty sure to assume the developers are on the case, but it's much nicer and more reassuring to actually hear (=read) it from you.

I just opened a poll thread, because I'd really like to know how widespread this problem is.
Either we'll learn basically everyone has this problem, or we are just freaks. ;)

How often do you succeed in joining internet games?

As I have a lot of trouble joining most internet games, and I have read some explanations that would mean everybody basically has the same problems as me, I'd like to know how the average gamer fares while trying to join a Defcon game from the metaservers. So please indulge me and take a vote how ma...

Maybe. What I'd like to know is, is it normal to be unable to connect to most games? Does really everybody have the same problem that I have?

It's also entirely possible that the servers you are trying to join are badly configured -- aka port forwarding is not enabled, etc., and thus no one can join them. Try joining a game that already has several people in it, and see what happens. No, they are configured all right. It doesn't seem to ...

Introversion games always have been a little choosy about sound cards. I had a similar problem back when Darwinia was coming out. The problem only went away after I changed my sound card.

Best of luck, there's still a chance you'll get it up and running a little bit easier! :)

No luck. My modem really is just that - a modem. There's no way it would filter incoming or outgoing traffic on its own. So I'm back to start. Fiddling with network options does nothing to improve my success rate on joining games. By the way, I also can't connect to servers with a known port number ...

Sorry trickfred, I didn't see that. When I first read your post, there was only the first line. The help you edited in later. But no, technically the modem is not a router and has no hardware firewall. Thus I can't configure it. Thanks for your help anyway.
