basically impossible to incorporate into the game unless they made their own scripting language. things are too easy now to begin with, why should they be any easier

you can have yourself arrested, it shows in the news that agent xxxxx has been arrested but you don't lose the game

some cheats are there to stop obcessive people from playing the game over and over again, so some of them put in secret cheats that are unlocked when the game is over to help wind it down

i had a nice combo with perfect balance, kept going until the counter stopped heh

the first arcade game i played was pac man.. it was new too heh..
i heard it described as a guy running around in a dark room listening to techno music while popping pills and running away from "ghosts" while tripping

i had mario 1 in mind, there is a warp in 1-2 to level 4, than another one in 5 to level 8 or something.  i haven't played in ages

Cheats first started being included in console games (as far as I know) to generate more sales by being able to market a magazine or book describing them in detail.  some of their books are just as expensive as the games.  I know this is true for the NES because nintendo would release book...

Messing around with the player files isn't a big deal.  It does ruin the game however.
Hacking the exe in order to play the demo still doesn't let you do much else anyhow, most of the story is included in the full version only.

The lead designer has specifically said that he will not stand for hacking the executable and if you post it, he will probably ban you for life and delete the thread.
