True, but that's not exactly what I was trying to say. :) The point is: Are there languages with such a different structure (compared to the Roman language family) that those rules do not apply to them? About the Chinese thing: You can still use a transcription of the Kanji characters and write down...

It would be interesting to know if this works for all of the various languages in the world, or if there are some to which these rules do not apply. Btw: Does anyone know where the results of the study were posted for the first time (news, research paper or whatever)? Google displays a huge amount o...

Oh yeah, quotes - you gotta love them! ^_^ "To err is human. To make really bad mistakes, you'll need computers." "If God would have wanted us to use computers, he would have given us 20 fingers." "I'm not afraid of pasta!" (Chef of an Italian restaurant - just seconds ...

The DDoS attack performed by the worm is completely pointless. It's hitting windowsupdate.com now, and M$ has already taken the DNS offline, but windowsupdate.microsoft.com - the correct address for Windows Update - is still operational and not affected by the attack in any way. Nevertheless some 3r...

Don't just look for msblast.exe - the two variants of the worm use different filenames. Variant .B comes as "penis32.exe" (WTF...? O_o), variant .C is namend "teekids.exe" and drops a backdoor with the filename "root32.exe".

As far as I can see from this virus, it appears to shutdown the computer after 60 seconds each time it is turned on until it is removed. It's not going to do a great DOS attack if it lasts 60 seconds, and most people wouldn't bother turning on there computers unless they were going to get rid of th...

I agree to Starfyre - the amount of influence a popular hacking game such as Uplink has on its fans depends on their personality and maturity. Only a very low percentage of people are that much affected by actions and gameplay. Otherwise we would be in trouble... Imagine everyone who plays violent g...

Did you try the tiny "X" button at the upper right of the file server menu? ;)

I'm not absolutely sure, as I always deleted the logs right from the start (first with Log_Deleter v1.0, then later I used the Log_Deleter v4.0 to remove the "[Log Deleted]" entries left by the older version of the program). Guess it depends on the difficulty (and thus the riskiness) of th...

About the firewall bypass: Did you get the connection analyser (HUD upgrade) first? You will need it to get the bypass to work. Otherwise the program won't do anything.

You should delete the logs everytime after you did a job (no matter if you have encountered an attempt to actively trace you during the hack or not). And always use the Log_Deleter v4.0, because all lower versions do not wipe out the logs completely, which means your pursuers will be eventually able...

This is really annoying. When I played Uplink first, I also waited a couple of days (ingame) before replying the ARC mail, and it took me some time to find out that I actually missed the entrance to the storyline. :P I had to start a new game as well. Perhaps this is supposed to be part of the chall...

Hard to tell which way is more long-winded. ;) But I somehow prefer the usual procedure (hacking into a bank as admin and copying the accounts). Would be nice if there was a way to save the listing of bank accounts in Uplink - similar to cracked accounts, without having to write all of them down.
