Quote: from Maniak on 2:40 pm on Oct. 14, 2003[br]I usually just avoid them. If you've tried that before, you might have to abandon, since it only appears in the news if you get it right the first or second time. That's why I scummed the save game. Over. And Over. And Over. It always gets reported ...

I have spent hours (literally, *hours*) reading up on and trying to complete a "Frame a user for destruction of data" mission. I actually figured out how to do it on my own, in that my methods match what everyone else says to do. It hasn't worked. I will be more than happy to send anyone m...

Quote: from ImmaculateDeception on 7:23 am on July 16, 2003[br]Greetings,   I have been playing Uplink for over a year now and I have no problem executing any of the missions with the notable exception of the "Frame a user for destruction of data" and "Frame a man for bank fraud"...

While Uplink is a lovely game, there are still obvious bugs and useability problems.  Plenty of them are posted in this forum, but here are a few more off the top of my head: 1.  Taking two 'frame a user for...' jobs at the same time apparently doesn't work.  Those missions are also *...

I didn't copy it, and I'm not using mods.  This is a bug.

After blowing up my machine, and having more than one mail about foiled federal agents, the motion sensor shows up red from then on, no matter what.

It still stops the fast-forward of time, but that's of only limited help.

Wow.

I could have sworn half-life didn't do that, but I went and checked.  Ick.  8P  Of course, even in that case, my actual windows don't get resized.

Freelancer definately doesn't do it.

Wow.  Umm, that is so amazingly wrong. I just went and tested this, and found that a fair number of games have the behaviour you describe.  The one that didn't, Freelancer, is also the one that gives me the least trouble multitasking. This violates every thing I've ever learned about softw...

This is on a Win2K machine. No matter what it's doing, *even if it's paused and minimized*, Uplink uses all available spare CPU cycles.  This is both unnecessary and annoying. I humbly suggest that you search your code for busy loops and replace them with clock-timed or event-driven wait cycles. -Ro...

When set to fullscreen mode, uplink resizes my main desktop.  This is *VERY* annoying, as my main desktop is at 1600x1200, and the whole reason I want to use a fullscreen mode is to see nice big letters in Uplink without messing up all my other programs. Having all my other open windows resized...

I love Uplink, it is very cool!

However, bad person that I am, I play at work sometimes.  I'd like a
way to turn off the sounds, seperate from turning off the music.

Thanks!

I found a subtle, but fully repeatable bug that makes it very, very difficult to finish a mission. When you disconnect from a server, there's the message about logging out that slowly types out.  If you hit *both* Reply and Send on the mail for a mission during the time that that message is bei...
