I've done these missions and always decrypt them BEFORE uploading to the target fileserver, then reply to the email. This has never failed in any of my games.

I don't think that it's worth bothering with the test machine. It's a cool idea, but as long as you immediately go to InterNic and delete the log with your Gateway IP that you made when you routed your connection, and the password verification log, you will never be caught.

Never had this happen! Even when the game has crashed everything up to the crash is still the same, no info seems to be lost.
