There seriously needs to be some way for gang members to have the option to leave their gang and return to a normal prison life. A simple solution to this problem would be to have infected prisoners automatically start heading toward the infirmary for treatment. If they make it there, great, if not (and they pass out) then the doctors, or guards, would have to do some running to tend to the prisoners and get them transferred ...

I've found that not designating shower time is the best approach to keep all of my prisoners from clogging up the paths to the shower. I have a row of shower heads in the center of my cell block and i notice my prisoners use their free time to shower if they need to.
