Re: {Suggestion} Add a Bakery

There could be an influence to the personal traits of the prisoners: A worker in the license plate factory will be good at metalwork, so he might be able to dig his way outside faster. A woodworker might be able to craft some kind of weapon out of wood, and a experienced chief could poison food in ...

Re: {Suggestion} Add a Bakery

Okay, now I am going to be argumentative. This reply doesn't answer any of the points that I raised. You wouldn't buy bread or other baked goods made by prisoners. Great. Essentially, your response is that a certain feature should not be implemented because it makes you feel squicky. This does not ...

I think bakery could be rolled into kitchen. And instead of selling the product, feed them to prisoner to provide small boost of happiness.

Re: [Flamebait] Sad to see PA, RW, and DF reinventing the wh

that's probably too much work for just Toady. And that is precisely my point. And my point is that there's no easy solution (if there is one). Going back to your post. In my fantasyland, Dwarf Fortress was released at some point in the past under a license similar to Quake 3 or Sauerbraten, with an...

Re: {Suggestion} Experience System for staffs

Isn't the rapid hiring/firing issue already partially addressed by that you have to pay 3x ~ 10x times their daily salary just to hire them? So if you hire/fire them in quick succession, you're going to lose a lot of money? Although allowing you to have more "experienced staff" is very app...

Re: [Flamebait] Sad to see PA, RW, and DF reinventing the wh

Regarding the reinventing the wheel... I see that more as each game has their own unique requirements that's more difficult for another game to replicate, both in feature, performance, and other underlying engine they're built on. Take, for example, the grid base map. The three games all use grid-ba...

Re: [Suggestion] Workers work Smart not Hard

1. Perhaps instead of arbitrarily hard-code it as "1 worker in garbage" perhaps have a sort deployment style assignment for workers. So you can, say, designate to have at most 2 workers working on garbage disposal and 16 workers for construction, that way you can avoid suddenly having not ...

Re: (Suggestion) Blackout should cause full-scale riot

Instead of triggering riot immediately, I would probably have blackout state elevate the temperature of the prison over time.
So if the blackout last too long, prisoners riots.

Re: [Suggestion] DEATH ROW :D

I can't help but feel..ah, who am I kidding, believe that some people want real world topics to factor into a game. Having a death row, or even a whole-life tariff is unethical? Excuse me? This is the same company that created a hacking game (Uplink), and a game that allows you the power to throw n...

Re: Interesting article on Kotaku about Prison Architect

Xander is one of those guys that will talk you to death. You can post all day long and he'll just post more. He'll post until you stop, and then he'll walk away thinking he won something. The bottom line is this - there is no provision in U.S. Justice System that specifies anything to do with race,...

Re: Grumpy morning prisoners

I agree with the hygiene need rising too quickly, especially when they're sleeping. I try getting them to shower before Sleep, but they still "red-lined" in 6 hours. Doesn't make a lot of sense, I know a lot of people who bath and night instead of in the morning, and they're perfectly fine...

Of course, that suggests that it ought to be possible to deliver food to solitary cells.

xander

Yeah, that's one of the big wish list, the ability for staff to deliver food to cell doors.

Re: [Suggestion] Medical experiments?

On the whole, I would argue that medical experiments would offer little benefit to gameplay versus the effort it would take to implement one. The only possibility would be have modding capability extensive enough to allow for it. Regarding medical experiments, it would likely involve: Drug experimen...

Re: [Suggestion] Medical experiments?

No. No, no, no, no... no ! Not that your proposal would be a bad game mechanic. In fact, I would love to see some trade-offs in the game, options that might allow different prison concepts not only in the layout, but in gameplay as well. (Maybe even mutual exclusive options, that might encourage yo...

Re: Upcoming feature : Mod support

Is it possible to have a Grant show up repeatedly? Basically, once a grant is completed, it shows up in the Grant selection list and can be taken again. I'm trying to mod in three Grants that allow you to bring in some number of Max, Medium, Min security prisoners everytime to take a Grant (perhaps ...
