Re: Suggestion: Circuit breaker

Rather than debating what we should call this magic box, can we please discuss how it behaves in terms of gameplay mechanics Well... my (personal) idea was adding the functionality of a RCD to the switch (meaning point 1 & 2 from you post), but not the functionality of a fuse (meaning your poin...

Re: Suggestion: Circuit breaker

I think, at least in terms of gameplay, a circuit breaker = a fuse = earth leakage circuit breaker = residual current circuit breaker. No, even in terms of gameplay the two are different: ⋅  A fuse protects your generator from "exploding" when you connect too many devices. This ...

Re: Celebrety visits?

I'm not yet sure about those visits.... Maybe you could have them as random appearing Challenges like "Build a kitchen with at least x cookers and y fridges within the next day" and if you succeed something positive happens, like an effect on morale or bonus income. The same system could b...

Re: Full screen windowed mode.

IIRC it had a huge performance drawback with Windows XP and older because the Direct3D drivers were unable to operate in windowed mode. I might be mistaken though and I have no idea to what extent that is still the case for operating systems with modern 3D-accelerated desktops.

Re: Suggestion: Circuit breaker

we should be able to use colloquial language rather than technical language, since not all of us know the technical language. I'm not an EE either and I wouln't mind the difference if the case the op described wasn't the exact case where it matters. From my own experience, there is a "circuit ...

Re: Suggestion: Circuit breaker

First of all, you probably mean a residual-current device, not a circuit breaker.

Anyway there is that manual switch which I'd love to be used or triggered automatically in such occasions and by escaping prisoners if they have access to it.

Re: [Suggestion] Prisoner Schemes/plots

iirc something like this is already implemented, but the consequences are not that noticeable yet. Some prisoners are more likely to steal, some are more violent etc.. You can guess which of them from the former convictions or look inside the save file.

Not to be overly pedantic, but don't you mean alpha 13? As I recall, tunneling didn't exist in alpha 12.

Correct. He said he's playing alpha 12 to get into the game without tunneling.

First of all thank you for your effort. But there actually already are two translations for PA availabe: http://devwiki.introversion.co.uk/pa/index.php/Mods#German I have no idea how good they are though. --- Erstmal danke für die Mühe, die du dir da gemacht hast, es gibt aber schon zwei Übersetzung...

Re: Re:

I kinda feel that if we are gonna have some real fun with prison breaks and such. There just needs to be a way for prisoners to be able to sneak around. either that or the zoom out should be lowered or something. Or maybe if you dont have a guard in a room you dont have vision, not sure if that cou...

Re: Improve performance?

When I keep it running while not changing anything it will do much better. Interesting, I've had the opposite experience: When I pause the game and go read the forums/wiki/whatever while keeping the game running for some time and then switch back to the game, it usually has heavy lags until I save/...

Re: Allocating more RAM to PA?

I'm getting the impression we have a misunderstanding here, so let me start from the beginning: There is quite a big difference between saying "Through thorough testing I noticed that every time I do X it leads to issue Y, so I conclude there might be a problem Z with it." and saying "...

Re: Allocating more RAM to PA?

You can tell it uses only x GB of RAM or or 3 threads, but you can not tell that that is the reason for the lag. E.g. if there's an inefficient algorithm at work, more threads won't help much.

Re: [Suggestion] Rebellion type "incident"

Well penalties for complaints are planned, kind of. You are supposed to be able to set punishments for complaining, but we accidentally missed this out of the Policy screen. And I wonder... if a guard has a reason to handcuff a prisoner, shouldn't that mean he has done something wrong? And if he did...
