Steam will automatically update PA. As for save games getting corrupted, it hasn't happened to me before, but I've not been around for too long, so I may have gotten lucky.

I agree with most of these except the shop. Since I suck at the game, even my min sec prisoners try to escape and walk out, so I don't think a shop run by prisoners would be safe.
Also, for some reason, I can't view the pictures for the controller but from what I read the idea seems pretty cool!

Don't forget, if the player wants to turn certain weather options off, he should be able to from the Create New Prison screen. Otherwise, +1 to rain
