I was just asking because for example minecraft was in alpha 7 (or a few more), then it goes in beta and it was released after the beta 1.8....and it's still in devlopment.

Yes for the username/password and you need the key or your username wont be accept to download the game so to active it you must read the text above the page and click on the underlined word <activated>

you must buy the game, then you'll download a folder with your key in and then you can activate your account with it and your username...
