I will never fire a gun again. (among many other things that I will never do again!)
Congratulations. I was recently on holiday to poland and visited Auswitzch-birkenau, saw a bunch of Israeli soldiers there. Is that part of the service?

Sometimes. I'm not sure what the requisites are, maybe it's about luck and timing, some of us go and some don't!
Personally I've never been offered the chance, and AFAIK no one from my unit went - at least during my service. Also possible, that it's only for higher-ranked officers and NCOs (I'm not sure NCO is the right term - it's what translators are pointing me at).
Also... I don't think I'd have went, if offered. I'm not that interested in the whole subject.

Congrats!
Since you (seemingly) don't find them enjoyable, here's to hoping you never need to!

Well, I actually did enjoy the sadly infrequent shooting ranges. I was just mentioning that it won't happen again - gun laws are a lot stricter around here. But besides, even if I was legally able to own a gun, I don't think I would.

You could go to an open opal mine. That town where they live in previously dug opal holes looks like a nice place to own some property. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coober_Pedy

I am a graduate student at the moment, and 10 years older (at least) than almost everyone else in the department. Not to mention the children in my classes (when did undergraduates get to be so damn young?).
