auth server unreachable

Postby MadMorgan » Thu Apr 23, 2009 12:36 am

When I open Multiwinia the "authentication status" reads "Unknown". When I attempt to select "multiplayer game - join game" the server list displays a throbbing "Requesting server list . . ." message perpetually. A packet dump reveals attempted UDP connections to 67.159.43.240:5009 failing with a Destination Port Unreachable error. I have not changed my auth key sinceI got it in September. The server list which runs off of multiwinia-ladder.net shows servers running, but I've only spotted Demo compatible maps in play.

I need my fix

Well for the first day I had it it worked fine, and then after that
"authentication status" reads "Unknown". When I attempt to select "multiplayer game - join game" the server list displays a throbbing "Requesting server list . . ." message perpetually.

What can I do?

Check your firewall settings. And by that I mean "Uninstall anything with the name Norton on it".

Well I can't uninstall Norton, and it is listed as an exception in my firewall. Defcon works fine.

There are really only two ways to uninstall Norton one you have activated it. Either use another operating system to wipe it from the hard disk or reinstall windows. This is (a small) part of the reason why so many people hate Norton
