Darwinia Update Testing

Postby John » Fri Dec 15, 2006 7:33 pm

For the last few months we've been quietly working on an update to Darwinia. It's nearly ready, but we need your help to test it so that we can identify and fix the any bugs that we've accidentally introduced.

This update includes some fairly large changes to Darwinia's rendering engine (it is now Direct3D based), as well as some additional input methods (it supports the X360 Game Controller) and features.

We really would like to get you testing this update as soon as possible, and in order to encourage you, we've decided to put up some prizes for the tester(s) that make the most contribution to testing this update. Contribution will be evaluated by Introversion and will be primarily based on number of unique bugs submitted, bugs verified, and attempts to narrow down a bug, as posted on the Beta Tester's Discussion forum.

The prize fund so far includes:
  • Logitech G15 Keyboard and G7 Mouse
  • Defcon Posters and Soundtrack
  • 30GB Ipod
We'd like to tell you more about this exciting update, but we need you guys to apply and if selected, to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Please sign up here (Windows users only please)

...:(. I guess that means you're dropping Mac/Linux support?

Windows only? If I sign up, do I get a free copy of the Windows version to test with? I would love to help, but I only own the Mac version... though I do have a Windows machine at work.

Does this mean that Darwinia might be appearing on the Xbox Arcade then? Or did we already know that?

We still don't know it. But we "know" it, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

Well. I thought that Introversion might turn out to be a good game company. But DirectX? No thank you! It's bad enough that I can't play Defcon under Linux... Now you're taking away Darwinia too? Gah!

I signed up.

What I didn't mention is that I own a 4-axis, 12-button game controller that is similar to a XBOX controller.

Logitech G15 Keyboard and G7 Mouse

Does this mean we'll be seeing G15 LCD support? :)

The XBox uses DirectX. ;)

Nice one John. I'd love to test out, but due to wedding I'm a bit busy. Darn.
