Where can I download the Defcon MODSUITE ?

Postby AshkoreDracson » Wed May 29, 2013 2:31 pm

Hi, :D

I've tried to download the Defcon MODSUITE because I wanted to make a completly different map, however the problem is that the link is dead and redirects me to some kind of shop/ad thingy, well you know, the thing that happens when the site is dead but is still avaliable.
So i've been wondering if anyone could link here their Defcon MODSUITE, with everything included (Readme, ect...), I would greatly appreciate it, and so will other users who are late to the party like me.

Thanks in advance.

Coastlines, country borders, and cities are vector data. I think I have a python script to convert svg files (with special properties) to coastlines.
You can use programs like Inkscape to layout the coastlines over a raster map.
I can try to dig the script up, if you want.

I downloaded Inkscape, but I can't seem to find that "script" to convert into coastlines.

And the coastlines works with vectors, sure thing, but it's with latitude and longitude (I may be wrong, but it's the case for cities) which means that the more you go down or up, the more tight the values are, because it's a sphere on a plane.

Here it is:
http://sfcon.demoszenen.de/mods/svg-to-defcon.py.zip

It's a very simple script, but I included an example. If you edit it, it will probably work.

Oh, and you need to install Python and drag the saved svg file onto the script. Should result in a coastlines.dat file.

Installed python, downloaded your script and ran it with your example, it gives me the following error : "PermissionError: [error 13] Permission denied: './coastlines.dat'"
I'm 100% sure my directory is not read only or anything, and I have admin rights.

Sorry, './...' was a linux only syntax.
I uploaded a changed version.

Still gives me the same error somehow, and instead of "./coastlines.dat" it is "coastlines.dat"
I have no idea why it does this.

Hm, then maybe edit the script and change coastlines.dat to some location you can write to for sure, like 'c:\coastlines.dat''.

I will try it myself on windows tomorrow.

Okay it succesfully exported it now, that's some odd stuff going on here, anyways, I will try your example on Defcon and see how it turns out.

Tried to make France and Corsica, and it gave some pretty messed up stuff, most of the lines were over Alaska doing circle shapes and the ones of corsica were all over the world, i'm not sure what happened, I deleted Corsica and gave it another try and the coastlines are gone here is my SVG : https://mega.co.nz/#!oNFwnLQJ!fvKbSkL6- ... You have to disallow Inkscape to use relative path.

Translated from german version:

Go to File Menu -> Inkscape Options -> SVG Output -> Uncheck [ ] Relative Coordinates Allowed

Also I uploaded another script version, because coastlines.dat was missing the final 'b' character and would not show the last line.

Alright re-added corsica sicne your new script, un-checked the allow relative path thingy, yet it still does it !
I will try and do some simple and fast thing to see if I actually have to redo the lines for them to take effect of the non-relative path.
