Updated Defcon
Is there an updated version of Defcon out there I see all these posts and your pics all look so new and clean than the game i have downloaded so was wondering if there was an update done.
I am also looking to see if there is a way to play both sides of the game rather than against the computer.
Thanks

1. No, unless you wish to pay for source code and edit it.

Actually you can. Start a new game, select GameMode Custom, then Advanced Options, then TeamSwitching enabled.
Start the game, hiting the "1" - "6" keys will now allow you to control different teams.
Newest game version can be downloaded here: http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/do ... index.html
But it doesnt actually change the look of the game. You can download some visual mods, or play with the build in style editor, to be found under the tools menu. Under Options->Graphics are even more options to change the visuals.
Also there is Minicom, a feature enriched and bug fixed version made by some IV fans, its somewhat difficult to find a multiplayer game with it, but if you just gonna play single player, it wont bother you, I guess. http://minicom.simamo.de/

1 till 6, lets you control players 1 till 6, the computer will always control the players you are not currently in charge of. Works pretty strait forward for me.
Of course you will have to start a game with CPU players, otherwise there wont be anything to control.

You started a game with you as player 1 and added 2 AI players right? Then hitting 3 should let you control player 3. I just tired it myself and noticed, you can control the CPU players, but they will also keep controlling themself, what you get is a mix of your commands and a CPU player.
You could however start 2 Defcons, open a game in one of them, activate TeamSwitching, join with the 2nd defcon, start the game. Control both sides without interference off CPU Player actions.
