R3D cheats
Hi,
Could someone explain me how the server can close game while it's not finished ? How could that be something else than someone cheating ? ... especially when R3D is in game, losing, and part/rejoin two times while that never happened when he's in a winning situation ...

R3D, King of cheaters and liars.
.... also ... in tournament games ... dropping game (for ragequit or not) should be considered like acceptation of loss and game should continue I think ...

Re: R3D cheats
Previous builds of dedcon would declare the game over once they got the first automated score report from clients. I gather that sometimes, clients send them early (the first report of this had them sent by a connecting spectator; I don't know how to reproduce that, though) and, of course, now modified clients can send them, too. Current dedcon versions no longer trust single score reports, they wait for several. May be a cheat, may be an accident, either way, a server upgrade should fix it.carebear wrote:Could someone explain me how the server can close game while it's not finished ?

@carebear, this happened also in the past. and i really do not think that r3d is a cheater.

@Laika: Can you identify the game? Posting some rec link if available?
@Bert: It was the svn1038 version
@Carebear: The server had a 2 hour period of lobby waiting, dont think it's a good idea to start a game like this, specially when drops are likely and rejoiners have to process the lobby phase probably serveral times to get back to the actual game.

Yeah, it's not the score report premature game end problem. It could be a falsely triggered end due to the long pause; if no command is given by players for a certain amount of time, the server considers the game to be over. The time players need to be idle for that to happen usually is two hours, but it can be customized and MAY just be on the server if it has been running for a long time. The name of the setting is IdleTimeGlobal.
Either way, I'll be rechecking the code for other causes of game ends that were unintended and, now that score reporting clients are widespread, think of a new logic for how the idling works. It's not trivial because the purpose of the idle detection is indeed to catch idle players blocking servers (imagine: go to server without slowdown budget and pause enabled, pause game, leave PC running and go skydiving).
