Filter tabs in the chat box

Postby torq » Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:25 am

I came up with an idea that can partially solve the problem with the chat flood

Channel buttons should also be filters now.
When you press yout alliance channel - only messages from your team are displayed there (if some other person says something on a public channel, the Public button just flashes).
Also, I wish the third button (private channel) were available which should work exactly the same way.

Besides, even as luck had it there are no flooders around in the public channel, sometimes just normal chat discrupts vital communications.

Good suggestion. Along with other ui tweaks, I would like to see this as well.

Not a bad suggestion at all.
You could always just play on a dedicated dedcon server.

The owner/admin can restrict the number of chat messages you can issue per minute ; default is 12.
Not to forget that if a moderator/admin/owner is around, he can kick/ban the griefer.

an /ignore command would just be easier...
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.

Yes, but until there would be a dedicated server for each 'crazy' setup I might come up with I would want to host my own games.
Dedicated servers are fine, but I still think that IV has to add some features to the game itself.

P.S. /ignore command helps, but typing in the really idiotic names of some players may be tiresome. Especially when they use some non standard symbols.
As is was with fake Radiant Caligula (with ae symbols). Or umlauts that I don't have the standard keyboard support for, or some name like 43efF_ERFc%_F$#$%

Type a single character wrong and you will have to start over.

Is it possible to /ignore by id?

So host your own dedicated server games. At this point, when I want to play a game, I start up a dedicated server, tweak the settings to be what I want, and play that. If you are the admin for a server, you can change any setting you want, either in the config file before you start the server, or after logging into the server. I would also note that Chris has as much as said that bert_the_turtle's dedicated server is/will become the official dedicated server for Defcon.

Part of the name also works, in this case /ignore 43ef. And /ignore without argument ignores the most active chatter.

xander: semi-official.

What, for the dedicated server? Try this:
