Make object emit light?

Hey i am trying to make a simple mod that add's a Floodlight for yard/outdoors.
I have the object, sprite and language sorted i am just wondering how do i make it emit light? I want it to be more powerful than a standard light so if anyone could tell me the tag in materials or what i need to put in a lua script that would be awesome!

Oh, I'm so glad someone thought to do this. The original light sucks. I don't think it's doable right now though.
