Wake up bell

Postby Inge Jones » Mon Sep 01, 2014 2:54 pm

The mod I would most like to make at this moment is a wake-up bell, with a settable time per security category, to fit in with the regime. My intention was to wake prisoners about half an hour before breakfast. In the absence of being able to fit it in with the format of the regime UI, my approach would have been to make a new object, which has its own menu that allows either a "wake up now" or a settable daily time.

Would it be true to say that as yet, modders have not been given quite enough of the API to make this possible? For example, I'd have no idea how to access each prisoner's "asleep" flag. Or have I just not read enough yet?

We can remove the flag that makes prisoners only sleep at night (between 10pm and 8am) so you could change the regime to have prisoners sleep at different times.

"Flags RequiresNight" yeah I see it but I don't think that will entirely help. For example I have breakfast scheduled at 7am, I'd want my prisoners to use the cell toilet before being called out for breakfast. Setting to free time the hour before a) doesn't wake them and b) those who are awake are then free to leave their cells, which is not what I want either. Lockup period doesn't wake them either. I want them to wake up shortly before breakfast yet remain locked in their cells long enough to think about using their own flippin' toilet! :)

Prisoners also require silence to sleep, perhaps you could make an object that makes a sound, waking the prisoners (just guessing here)

I had a similar idea.

I was going to make a new regime called roll call, you'd set it in the last hour, esentially would wake the prisoner up, have them stand at their door for a few moments then leave them in their cell before the next regime. Hate how they all brawl in the shower.

New modding doesn't all new regimes though, I might give it another go with your idea about a noise generator.

A bunch of teenage girls going to a boyband concert might do they job, might be difficult to create sprites for though

Does the noise have to happen in the same room as the prisoner?

probably not since cells belong to a bigger cell block

How do we add menu options to objects? I want to ring the bell, not just dismantle it :D

You could still make the bell and a pseudoscript to be ready for when the API does allow for it.

Perhaps you could wire something using the remote system? Hook the bell up to a timer and have it go off an hour before breakfast.

A wake-up call would be very useful to morning agression. :D
